One of the most exciting games we saw in 2017 is getting a sequel! Yooka-Laylee which is a homage to the 90’s collectathon platform games will see a sequel this year called Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.
The game will once again be made by Playtonic Games who consist of former RareWare staff as well as Team 17 (Worms). The score to the game will feature David Wise and Grant Kirkhope who worked on the previous title as well.
The games take a lot of influence from titles such as Banjo Kazooie and will see their new entry mixing together 2D levels, a 3D overworld and plenty of puzzles. Due to the mixture of dimensional styles, it looks like Impossible Lair will be its own spin-off title. The game will be seeing the return of Yooka and Laylee’s enemy Capital B.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair looks to be full of twists and challenges that will get you thinking like a lot of Legend of Zelda games do. The game is set to release later this year and will be available on all formats.
