Hasbro and Netflix will be partnering up with YouTuber’s Rooster Teeth and their new premium studio division to tell the origin story of the Transformers in a series set to release in 2020 on the streaming network. The series is set to be called ‘War For Cybertron’.
Polygon Pictures will be serving as the animation studio and the bots are set to look like they have never done before with producers saying there will be a ”new animation look and style.”
The staff on the project include members well associated with the Transformers universe such as FJ DeSanto (Transformers: Titans Return) as the showrunner, as well as writers George Krstic (Transformers: Combiner Wars), Gavin Hignight (Transformers: Cyberverse) and Brandon Easton (Transformers: Rescue Bots).
“In this Transformers origin story, we will explore the expansive universe of Cybertron in a way that audiences have never seen before — to the delight of both existing fans and those coming to the franchise for the first time,” said John Derderian, Netflix’s director of anime.
It will be exciting to see which Autobots and Decepticons will make a return and the voice casting choices as well.
