Alexisonfire have dropped a brand new song ‘Familiar Drugs’ and is the band’s first new material sine their 2010 EP: Dog’s Blood.
The Ontario emotional-hardcore five-piece looked like they were working on something with teasers across social media featuring a blank picture. The band uploaded their famous heart logo and a picture of the group, covered with a green tint. Imagine John Carpenter’s The Fog.
The track is a memorable effort by Alexisonfire full of ferocious energy, fat heavy riffs and a great balance of vocals between guitarist Dallas Green and vocalist George Pettit. If you were a fan of the band in their first run, be prepared to be thrown back into the mid-noughties. It sounds like the band never went away and I’m glad they’re back!
The band broke up in 2011 and began playing live shows again back in 2015, but didn’t look to be releasing new material. The band will be playing at London’s Alexandra Place June 1st with fellow Canadian rockers Cancer Bats.
